RUBBER STRAP - BLACK

69€

Variations

[{"variant_id":"56270087487871" , "metafield_value":""}]

A symbol of underwater exploration from the early 1960s to the late 1970s, the rubber strap equipped the most mythical dive watches of the era. An iconic fixture on the first Rolex Submariner, Blancpain Fifty Fathoms, and Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox Deep Sea, its instantly recognizable design was also the favored companion of all the "Skindivers" of those years.

Unlike many modern rubber or silicone straps, the Joseph Bonnie Rubber strap is not limited to sporty use. Its thinness, glossy appearance, and richness of detail make it a strap just as comfortable out of the water as it is beneath the surface.

Material

Like its 1960s cousin, Joseph Bonnie rubber straps are crafted from vulcanized natural rubber, a high-temperature baking process during which sulfur is incorporated to alter the rubber’s structure.

The strap's characteristics remain unchanged whether submerged or not, making it particularly suited for scuba diving. Vulcanization also grants it a moiré, glossy appearance that immediately sets it apart from silicone reproductions.

Design

The design of the Rubber strap fits perfectly onto any dive watch born in the 1960s, from the most iconic to the lesser-known. It will also look right at home on many chronographs and sports watches, and even on more unexpected timepieces.

Its dimensions remain stable, its mechanical resistance stays constant and it does not absorb moisture, qualities that set it apart during the 1960s.

Craftmanship

Manufacturing a rubber strap is one thing. Attending to the smallest details is another.

The reason we chose to offer you our own interpretation of this horological icon by creating our custom tooling was to provide access to the finest, most meticulous finishes and details we consider absolutely essential.

For instance, the crosshatch (tropic) pattern features enhanced depth and definition, and runs continuously across the entire visible surface on the wrist. This creates perfect continuity with no visual disruption at the lugs.

Something others simply do not do.
