THE STORY

Over more than 220 pages, this book carefully combines practical information, illustrations, and a selection of around 100 watches that, in the author’s view, have marked the last century of watchmaking.

Alongside great classics, it presents more confidential vintage pieces, organised into six major families: mechanicals, chronographs, divers, complications, sports watches, and quartz models. From the “What’s What” glossary to historical deep dives and technical notes on each piece, it is a book to which you will return again and again.

THE EDITION

Our friend and watch expert Clément Mazarian answered the call of Éditions du Chêne to create what may be one of the most beautiful watch books of recent years.

He chose photographer Henry Leutwyler, a specialist in still-life work, to capture each watch. The result is a coherent visual language of high-contrast, authentic images that reveal the beauty of patina and the marks of time on these pieces with many lives.
