The Rolex Oyster is a legendary watch. In November 1927, it began its luxurious “sports” career in November 1927 on the wrist of a young secretary, Mercedes Gleitze, who swam across the Channel in 15 hours and 15 minutes.
The Oyster Perpetual ‘characterizes Rolexes equipped with “perpetual”, hence automatic, movements. This is the case of this Oyster Perpetual Date, unlike the earlier Rolex Oyster “Precision” which drove the success of Rolex in its beginnings.
This Rolex Oyster Perpetual reference 15000 is a descendant from the references 1500 and 1501. Released in the 1980’s, it’s equipped with a Jubilee bracelet, presents the particularity of having an immaculate white dial marked with Roman numerals, and an exquisite engine turned bezel with polished markers set at every 5 minutes.
