The story of Longines Ultra-Chron watches begins at the end of the 1960’s. Their goal? Rub elbows with Girard-Perregaux and Seiko, whose offer only very recently included watches with high-frequency movements.
As a matter of fact, the movement of the Longines Ultra-Chron beats at a frequency of 36,000 vibrations per hour. A true revolution for the period, resulting in desired chronometric precision and Longines-tailored ads that shouted “here’s the most precise watch in the world!” for all to hear.
