Ref. 798 - Calibre 175 - Circa 1960
The creation of Breitling goes back to 1884. At that time, the watchmaker focused on chronographs and measurement tools, mainly for professionals.
The products of Léon Breitling, the creator, had a success in the industrial world, but also in the military, sports and scientific arenas. Breitling eventually moved closer to the aviation world, offering timepieces of exemplary reliability.
It wasn’t until the early 1940’s that the Breitling Premier was released, their first collection of wristwatches for a wider audience, more urban and less professional.
The particularity of this range lay in the size of the cases which measured between 36 and 38 mm, well below the size of the professional collections which Breitling was used to. Similarly, watches in this range were most often in gold, with leather bracelets unlike professional steel models.
Here we have an 18k gold model with a diameter of 36 mm.
