Ref. 808 - Vénus 175 - Circa 1970
Breitling is undoubtedly one of those brands that have forged the history of watchmaking. The brand was founded by Léon Breitling who focused on chronographs, increasingly requested at the time for industrial, military and scientific use, not to mention the sports world.
The Chronomat and its famous rotating calculation scale was created during WWII, in 1941. A design made specially for the engineering and mathematics fields offered a certain revival in the era of military watches.
Renowned as the first wristwatch with a calculation scale on the market, the Chronomat is actually, in fact, the second of its kind (the first being the non-chronograph model Mimo-Loga). This watch would inspire Breitling’s Navitimer model, and would be marketed in many versions well into the 1970’s.
