It was only two short years ago that we dove into the Joseph Bonnie adventure. A fantastic saga that has always demanded the most out of us, but also has rewarded just as much…if not more.
Among them, the chance to present a wide selection of creations in shops all over France (see full list here), managed by passionate men and women able to uphold our values through their explanations. The same values featured in products designed with care and crafted by passion, illustrated by our preference of proximity over low-cost production, time for true reflection over simple carbon copies or sloppy jobs. Always.
So we’re going to give the floor to these experts that will share their ideas, their vision and their very personal choices with you. Rendezvous.
A little self introduction? And a few words on your Seiko adventure?
My name is Cédric Dutilleul and I’m 46 years old.
Passionate about watches since I was 14, the day I stumbled upon my great-grandfather’s watch in a drawer.
From a Sales background, my career in fine watches started in retail in 1999, in a vintage and collector watches boutique. I then joined the Galerie-Lafayette Group, in its fine watches department, where I took over the management of several boutiques. I then worked for the CRESUS group, in Lille, then in Lyon.
I was then approached by Seiko who wanted to open a third boutique in Lille, after Paris and Lyon. A network that includes 5 points of sale today with the most recent openings in Bordeaux and Aix-en-Provence.
My love for Seiko started when I turned 20, the day I received a two-tone 150 sports chrono with moon phase. I still remember the midnight blue shark leather strap, identical to the color of the dial. Truly marvelous!
The adventure continues on since I just accepted a new challenge within Seiko France. From January 2019, to promote and develop the “Grand Seiko” brand in France as its Sales Director while remaining based at the Seiko Boutique in Lille.
My favorite watches? The Grand Seiko SBGV005, 44GS in 9F Quartz caliber, my first “Grand Seiko,” and the SBGW231, a hand-wound mechanical “Grand Seiko.” Extraordinary!
A few words on Joseph Bonnie ?
For me, the brand Joseph Bonnie embodies quality French handcrafted leather goods, in a Dandy-Chic spirit, combining vintage lines with noble, natural, and modern materials.
I would say that Joseph Bonnie represents simplicity, quality, elegance, and refinement.
Introduce us to Seiko Boutique Lille
It is at the historic heart of Lille at 7 rue Lepelletier that Seiko chose to open this space dedicated to the brand, designed by Japanese designers, created by the best French craftsmen, in a pure zen-chic style.
In this unique atmosphere of sober and elegant guidelines, I put a bit of heart into the place, and I wanted to bring Japanese craft and cultural tradition back from my trip to Japan for the 2017 GS tour, as well as a storytelling display case, where old timepieces that’ve marked the history of Seiko and Grand Seiko are presented.
The Seiko, Présage, Astron, Prospex, Premier and Grand Seiko collections are presented, representing more than 200 models including 40 Grand Seiko timepieces.
Thank you Cédric for these few words.
As for me, I must admit feeling a certain pride seeing the two names of my grandparents proudly represented by ambassadors like him all over France.
